Renewables increasingly provide clean and sustainable electricity supplies, especially in regions with friendly policies and favorable environmental conditions. However, challenges remain in fully exploiting renewable energy resources. Because the sun is not always shining and the wind is not always blowing, these technologies generate electricity intermittently. Successfully integrating renewables into America’s electric grid while minimizing the disruptive effects of their intermittent generation should be a top policy goal.
EIRP has conducted original research on renewable energy, including a comparative study assessing the role of renewables in decarbonizing the power sectors in California, Wisconsin, and Germany as well as a major review of existing literature on renewables and decarbonization. Our goal is to understand and support further development of renewable energy within a diverse and balanced energy sector.
